Disturbing state of enterprise security

LSS-NEWS-2010-005

Symantec organization published security report “State of Enterprise Security” that brings statistic data about enterprise security.

Experts say that cybercriminals attacked about 75 % of organizations in last 12 months, and caused average losses of $2 million per organization. Also, they estimate that every enterprise had some losses caused by cybercriminals in form of stealing intellectual property, credit card data or other sensitive user’s data. These losses are translated into financial losses because they affect productivity and customer trust. Almost 42 percent of organizations say that business security is more important than natural disaster, terrorism and crime. However, enterprise security is becoming more threatened by new IT initiatives that include infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a service, and server or endpoint virtualization. The biggest problem for most organizations is security system management, data loss prevention and network/endpoint security. More detailed report can be found at Symantec web site.
