Security experts in MI5 (Military Intelligence, Section 5) agency are worried that hackers are spies who tries to steal industrial secret.

Jonathan Evans, the head of MI5, says that hackers are using sophisticated technical attacks to steal technology on civilian and military projects. In April Chinese hackers have stolen data related to design and electronics systems on the US Joint Strike Fighter program. Similar incidents have also breached the US Air Force air-traffic-control system in recent months. Also, Chinese hackers are said to have hacked into parts of America's electricity grid. British officials insist they are aware of no successful attacks against government computer systems but point out that industrial partners are more vulnerable (British Telecom receive 1,000 attacks a day). Because of that, the Office of Cyber Security has formed CERT (Computer Emergency Response Teams) to deal with the cyber threat. It is based on GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), British intelligence agency responsible for providing information assurance. The units has goal to deal with attacks on government computers and key elements of the national infrastructure. Users can find more information on Tefegraph web site.
