Using of malware tools against hackers
Security experts have found that many of the tools used by cyber criminals are riddled with bugs and vulnerabilities.Exploiting these bugs might mean that the attack tools can be turned against those using them because they can be used to identify attacker and launch a counter-attack.
Many cyber criminals are using the so-called malware kits that are widely available online bundled in one package.French computer security researcher Laurent Oudot from Tehtri Security has analyzed the inner workings of many of these malware kits.Mr. Oudot found that that many of the kits, which have names such as Neon, Eleonore and Sniper, have significant loopholes that are relatively easy to exploit. In presentation at the SyScan 2010security conference, he released details of 13 separate unpatched vulnerabilities in some of the most popular malware kits.Using the vulnerabilities would allow researchers to collect more information about attackers, and it could lead to stealing their tools and methods.
